USGenWeb Project - Home page for The USGenWeb Project, a collection of websites for genealogical research in every county and every state of the United States.
USGenWeb Archive - There are many interesting pages as a result of the USGenWeb Project. This site is a digital library of census records, marriage records, wills, and other public documents generally found in courthouse. The site is arranged by state and county and many of the files can be download through ftp.
World GenWeb Project - Home page for The WorldGenWeb Project, whose goal is to have every country in the world represented by an online website.
Ancestry Search - Searchable databases for Ancestry World Tree pedigree files and the Social Security Death Index are available for free searching online. Many, many other databases are available to subscribing members only. They usually offer free 10-day or 30-day subscriptions if you want to access their other databases but you should know the individuals you are looking for to get the most use out of the limited access.
Gensearcher - The all-in-one genealogy search page that offers online research with over 150 genealogy search engines and indices to surnames databases.
Genealogy Pages - The worlds premier genealogy portal. This site offers a number of links to categories such as libraries and research facilities, lineages and surnames, resources on military service, pension, and war records.
Internet Family Finder - Several different databases to search for names on the internet or names in the Social Security Death Index.
Common Threads - Another searchable database to find other genealogist researching your family name or to locate other genealogy sites that contain surnames, ship passenger lists, family mailing lists, online records of churches, census data, and cemeteries, and more.
Surname Web - The Genealogy Web Project on Surname Resource Centers, a searchable registry containing over 70,000 surname links.
US Surname Distribution - Map distribution of surnames around the United States based on the 1850 Census, 1880 Census, 1920 Census and the 1990's phone books. Click the Years pull down menu and select "All Years" option to see potential migration patterns and movement of relatives across the United States!
